Royal Ascot Day Two – BigFoot’s Tips

Royal Ascot Day Two – BigFoot’s Tips

Day two of the Royal meeting and the PRINCE OF WALES STAKES takes centre stage at 3:00pm. All eyes will be on JAPAN, the impressive 4-year old bay colt trained by A P O’brien proved a high-class performer aged 3 and bids for glory on day two. With wins in the King Edward VII here, Grand Prix de Paris and Juddmonte he will prove a tough nut to crack and the market is currently indicating this as a warm order favourite. Opposition comes from ADDEYBB who has enjoyed great success out in Australia early this year and will relish any cut in the ground. John Gosden will saddle LORD NORTH who has the Brigadier Gerard to his name at Haydock. And we would be a fool to discount HEADMAN trained by Rodger Charlton who was not been seen to best effect in the Irish champion but has bags of talent. The Queen’s FIRST RECEIVER runner in the Hamton court at 1:50pm will head the market and Her Majesty will no doubt be glued to the box hoping for Royal winner at this year’s meeting.

Day One Review

Tough pill to swallow with TEREBELLUM just getting chinned on the line by Circus Maximus, Frankie came with smooth run and at the line just didn’t get his head down in time. But we took home the E/W money with a S.P of 5/1.

Advised 6/4 NAP of day one FRANKLY DARLING romped home for J Gosden and Frankie which was a much-welcomed winner early on in day one. We took on MOGUL and we were right to do so but MOHICAN HEIGHTS sat too far off the pace and got going late and was left with too much to do. Advised at 10/1 early LIBERTY BEACH who was well back into 4/1 ran a cracker to finish third for the e/w money but he found a relaxed tuned in Battaash making an easy win and finally getting that all-important Royal Ascot win.

NAZEEF gave us our second winner of the day and a great start to the Royal meeting winning just on the line at 10/30 and giving jockey Jim Crowley a treble on the day.

A wide-open contest to open todays card but a chance has to be taken on OUZO who ran a good second on its return, after 7 months off at Newmarket forging clear of the rest but just getting caught late on the line and is sure to have come on form that run.

A tough race to call here with the Queen’s runner FIRST RECEIVER surely to be all the rage after an impressive victory at Kempton last time, out by 7 lengths but it does come with questions to be answered against todays trip and opposition, BERLIN TANGO is one of those threats after landing the re-routed Classic trial at Kempton but carries a penalty for that success. The preference is for RUSSIAN EMPEROR who should have plenty to offer and is sure to progress.

Selection… RUSSIAN EMPEROR 10/30 888sport

WIN O’CLOCK had the benefit from stepping up in trip to make a winning start in Handicaps at Haydock 9 days ago and won’t mind if there is a cut in the ground. The 3-year-old colt ran on strong in the finish which suggests this extra furlong he encounters today really could see him progress further and give in form jockey Hollie Doyle her first Royal Ascot winner.

Selection… WIN O’CLOCK e/w 8/1 coral
Bookmakers paying 5 places

15:00 Ascot 17 Jun 2020
Prince Of Wales’s Stakes

Strong opposition will come for the selection in the way of ADDEYBB if the going gets heavy and the rain comes in time. But JAPAN (nap) is a high class 3-year old who has mixed it with the best. Finishing 4th in the Arc in Paris last year with the likes of ENABLE and WALDGEIST in front, stands him in good stead for today and although there has been a lengthy layoff, he is sure to be primed and ready to go amd looks to have the edge in class over his rivals today.

Selection… JAPAN (nap) 11/10 betfred
Bookmakers paying 2 places
….

15:35 Ascot 17 Jun 2020
Royal Hunt Cup
Heritage Handicap | Class 2 | 3YO plus
Winner £48,518
1m (Str)
Good / Good to soft in places

BELL ROCK made a winning reappearance for the inform A Balding yard, he remains unexposed and is a big player in this field today. A 5lb penalty for that success may prove too lenient to prevent the follow up today.

Selection… BELL ROCK e/w 7/1 betway
Bookmakers paying 7 places
….

16:10 Ascot 17 Jun 2020
Windsor Castle Stakes
Listed | Class 1 | 2YO only
Winner £23,680

Good / Good to soft in places

American raider Wes Ward has been bringing his best crop of 2-year-old sprinters for many years now and has been in the winner’s circle many times, SUNSHINE CITY could well add to that for Ward today. With the benefit of a strong run under his belt at Gulfstream park coming from way off the pace to win a shade cosy and will have learnt a lot from that run to give the filly the edge over the field today in the hands of Frankie.

Selection… SUNSHINE CITY e/w 7/1 bet365
Bookmakers paying 5 places
….

16:40 Ascot 17 Jun 2020
Copper Horse Handicap
Class 2 | 4YO plus
Winner £22,642
1m 6f 34y
Good / Good to soft in places

Since COLLIDE had wind surgery he has become a winning proposition winning 2 of his last 3 starts sired by the great Frankel and carrying top weight today he arrives on a hat trick after a win in a French Listed race and a 9 runner H’cap race at Chelmsford. He is turned out today under a 5lb penalty but this mark could still keep him very competitive.

Selection… COLLIDE e/w 13/2 paddypower
Bookmakers paying 5 places

Good luck, have a great day!!
